
| Pine table from Joe Hausmann Estate Bluff Community, Fayette County. Legs are attached with metal screws. Joe Sr. came from Austria in 1840 where he was a cabinetmaker. Joe Jr. was born in 1856 and opened a blacksmith shop in 1870 at the age of 14. He married in 1882 and around 1885-1890 opened a store and cotton gin. He stopped merchandising the store around 1940 and sold well machinery - his son August Hausman was a well driller. Around 1949 he closed the cotton gin. The table was reported to have been used in the store. |
